During my 58 years of pedagogic experience I have developed my own way of teaching technique, musicality, and interpretation.
My vision of healthy technique is based (among the other factors) upon medical studies of human anatomy and physiology, and the technical concepts of the great pedagogue, Dorothy Taubman.
All the technical and musical issues during THE LESSONS are presented in detailed and, at the same time, entertaining form. Each concept is supplied by the demonstration of toys and various material objects, as well as by the drawings, pictures, and symbols/logos, each of which has a title. The symbols, penciled in musical text become navigating signs, refreshing necessary actions in students’ minds. (All the visual materials are emailed to everyone, who takes lessons online).
When the most substantial topics are learned, they, as pieces of puzzle form the clear picture for piano players on dealing with any musical material.
I also offer ONLINE SESSIONS ON TECHNIQUE, where i suggest the strategies for overcoming specific difficulties in proposed musical excerpts ( fingering in conjunction with the proper physical motions, actions of the fingers, arm’s transitions, etc.).
THE ONLINE MASTER CLASSES are focused primarily on musical and interpretational aspects of piano performances, though, they also include discussions on technique, as a physical component of overall musicality.
I teach children, adults, professionals, piano teachers, and people with the injuries, related to piano playing. Each group of learners receives specific pedagogic approach, depending on the age and background of the participants.
My teaching method, including my book, “The Anatomy of Musicality” received the award for “Outstanding Teaching Achievement” from Texas State Music Teachers Association in 2016.
